UPBEAT! Auditions 2020-2021

UPBEAT! Auditions will take place at the beginning of next school year, we will have auditions during fall choir camp before school starts.

Audition Material will be to learn one part (or as many as you can sing) of the tag "Lonely For You am I" and sing it in quartets with current members or auditioners. Barbershop relies heavily on you being able to hold your own part.

In barbershop voicing please follow the rules of:

Tenor = Soprano

Lead = Alto

Bari = Male Tenor

Bass = Bass

Sheet Music & Learning Tracks Found Here

Before auditioning please understand the following:

1. UPBEAT! Members are expected to perform at ALL home football games and pep rallies (In UPBEAT! Attire), if you are working for another club at the Football Game you will need to change for the performance.

2. UPBEAT! is invited off campus for many gigs during school, after school, and sometimes on weekends. You must be in good academic/attendance standing year-round so that you can attend gigs during the school day. You must be available for after school/weekend gigs assuming that there is enough notice time given for the gig. If the gig is last minute (less than 2 weeks notice) you will NOT be punished for not being able to make it.

3. Rehearsals will be once a week until District Auditions, after that, rehearsals will go twice a week. Rehearsals will be at the given time decided by the members and director at the beginning of the school year. Rehearsals will be one hour long, usually from 4:45pm-5:45pm.

4. You only get 2 missed rehearsals (for whatever reason) a semester. Missing a scheduled performance (with no prior notification) is grounds for removal from the group. Share with your parents your rehearsal schedule and gig calendar.

5. **IMPORTANT** If any member is found misrepresenting our program in any way, using social media, or in person. They will be removed from the group, no second chances. What constitutes misrepresentation? A) Indirect/Direct social media (Facebook, Twitter, Insta, Snapchat, TikTok) posts about another person. B) Gossip and Drama among multiple students at school. C) Any behavior or conduct that makes our organization look bad. Being in UPBEAT! is being a part of something that is bigger than yourself, you no longer represent only yourself with your actions, you represent all of us.
